Baraja española
Okay, let's see how many hits I get with this picture!
So, if you have a baraja española of 40 cards, and choose one at random, what is the probability (in percent) of it being odd and cups? What about of it being a sota or of the suit "gold"? Or of it being even or cups?
Let's see, what exactly is a baraja española of 40 cards? A trip to Wikipedia tells me it is like a set of 48 cards, but with no 8s or 9s. So that means that the total number of odd cards is-- wait-- WTF is a sota? Okay, a sota is like a jack, but does it also have a number value? Ok, apparently it has the value of 10, the caballo has a value of 11, and the rey has a value of 12. (Sorry ladies, no queens in the Spanish deck...)
So let's back up a minute. How many odd cards in total? Hmm, that would be 1, 3, 5, 7, no nine!, and the caballo, so a total of 5 per suit, 4 suits, so 20 odd cards and 20 even cards...
Do you think they'll let me consult Wikipedia during the exam???
