So where was I?
Oh yeah, waiting in vain for information about the exam and dealing with the leaning tower of bookcase in my classroom. We ended up buying a new bookcase at Ikea (the white EXPEDIT, for the curious-- it doesn't seem to want to let me post a link) which the conserje has helpfully assembled for us. Classes have started but so far I have mostly been helping out with the three-year-olds, which as you might imagine is pretty exhausting, but since I have one at home I guess you could say I'm used to it. I have given a couple of classes to my other two groups, and am looking forward to a good year with them.As for the exam, rumor has it that the first part will be sometime between Oct. 10-20th. Since it is almost certainly going to be on a Saturday or Sunday, that points to the 16th as a likely date, but who knows. Still no word as to what language it will be in.
In other education news, the secondary teachers are on an indefinite calendar of strikes to protest the cuts and changes that have been made this year, and a spate of teacher-bashing (figurative, not literal) has come onto the political scene.
My own kids are doing well at school so far, though 4th grade is a big year-- things ramp up quite a bit, and it's a testing year. We'll see how it goes.
At some point I will post a review of The Good School, but that will have to wait a bit.
For now, it's back to studying...

Never dull is it. Glad you got those expedites, we have some too and they're great. Did you get the drawers with them or are they just shelves?
Glad to hear the kids are settling in well, and you too.
The exam? well, wait and see. I am sad about the cuts that have had to be made to the system, Youngest has no choices with optionals, indeed, there are no optionals as they all must do the same classes. Eldest had much more choice at the same age. Sad. Stupid bloody bankers.
Good to hear from you! Kelvin is so excited to be in 4th grade!
Well, I'm hoping for the best for you in this dreaded exam. We'll be thinking of you. Until them, the best of luck with working and studying... it must be hard!
