She makes the point in a story with a character who reads the newspaper and usually ends up in tears. I'm the opposite--if I read terrible news, I don't cry, I just feel bad that I'm not doing anything Karennoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5992304.post-35939384609478011622008-08-20T08:14:00.000+02:002008-08-20T08:14:00.000+02:00You have a great talent for asking meaningful ques...You have a great talent for asking meaningful questions!

I keep up with the world through Time magazine and, once in a while, the Brazilian magazine Veja.

I always want to become an activist, but haven't found the time yet ;-)!Lilianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03809018728037248794noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5992304.post-59070354703885329312008-08-12T20:31:00.000+02:002008-08-12T20:31:00.000+02:00One uses it to carry on intelligent conversations....One uses it to carry on intelligent conversations.

Honestly, I don't know what to do with the information a lot of the time. So much of it is about local stuff: crimes/accidents/tragedies/abuse/etc, which are horrible, but I can't stand the way they show tons of images, then interview the people who are affected by it. It feels so invasive. and not particularly useful for katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16975826433125245969noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5992304.post-90499699297669954762008-08-11T04:49:00.000+02:002008-08-11T04:49:00.000+02:00Honestly I am basically an ostrich like you for ex...Honestly I am basically an ostrich like you for exactly the same reason. I honestly find I cannot handle the way so much of it is presented in the mainstream news. I rely on my husband to mak sure that I know the really big stories, and funnily I find that reading blogs keeps me quite up to date, I often know news before the man....I also prefer to find out things I can do, rather than wallow orenetahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10616103982088424715noreply@blogger.com
